R1 is our handbuilt Italian steel road bike, designed for riders who appreciate the performance and responsiveness of a racing bike, together with the timeless character of a classic steel frame.

Its design deliberately avoids passing trends while remaining thoroughly contemporary. The result is a lightweight steel road bike with a distinctive racing character, clean lines and carefully considered details.

Classic lines, modern performance

R1 combines a traditional road bike aesthetic with a modern approach to frame design.

The top tube remains perfectly level, creating the classic horizontal line that defines the character of the frame. We chose to retain this detail because, for us, proportion and visual balance are an essential part of a racing bicycle.

At the same time, several elements have been redesigned to improve the frame’s performance and appearance.

The new seatpost clamp, already successfully developed for our INTEGRA model, provides a clean and refined solution at the seat cluster.

The rear stays are deliberately attached lower on the seat tube. This design choice contributes to the responsive and lively character of the frame, giving R1 the riding feel expected from a true steel racing road bike.

Lightweight steel, built for speed

R1 is designed around the idea that a steel road bike can be light, responsive and fast, without losing the distinctive ride quality and character of steel.

Every element of the frame has been considered with performance in mind, from the proportions of the tubes to the position of the rear stays.

The result is a road bike with a clear racing identity: direct when accelerating, responsive through corners and designed to reward an active riding style.

Rim brake or disc brake

Modern road bikes have largely moved towards disc brakes, and we recognise the advantages of the current standard.

However, we also believe that there is still a place for the classic rim-brake road bike.

For this reason, R1 can be built to order with either disc brakes or traditional rim brakes.

The rim-brake version shown on this website is a deliberate choice for riders who appreciate the clean lines, low weight and simplicity of a classic racing bicycle.

This option also allows R1 to retain a more traditional aesthetic while incorporating modern frame design and construction.

700 x 32 mm tyre clearance

Both the frame and fork can accommodate tyres up to 700 x 32 mm, giving R1 greater versatility than a traditional narrow-tyre racing bike.

The 700 x 32 mm clearance allows riders to choose tyres according to their preferred balance between speed, comfort and road conditions, while maintaining the performance-oriented character of the bicycle.

Clean integration

All brake and shifting cables are routed internally through the down tube, keeping the frame lines clean and uncluttered.

The frame is fitted with a black Chris King InSet7 headset, chosen for its precision, durability and refined appearance.

Every component and frame detail has been selected to complement the character of R1: technically modern, visually restrained and unmistakably inspired by classic Italian racing bicycles.
